Suspects cash in on unlocked car

A Duff Lane resident called the Whitefish Police Department to report several suspects taking more than $400 out of his unlocked car. The caller saw the suspects take off in a black Nissan Sentra and he and several friends tailed it to the Whitefish viaduct. Dispatch recorded that several voices in the background were yelling at the suspect vehicle to stop. Two men were ultimately detained.

A Riverside Avenue business owner had video of someone breaking into the building early in the morning.

A man on Central Avenue was allegedly knocked over by a purple pickup truck, the driver of which drove off without checking on the man. The caller didn’t want to file a formal report, but did want officers to be on the lookout for the truck.


A Kalispell woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report a feral cat in her bathroom. The Valley View Place resident said she had taken the cat in the night before because she thought it was one of hers, but this morning realized it wasn’t, and it was hissing at her. Animal control took the cat to the animal shelter.

A Ridgewood Drive woman called police after her ex-boyfriend showed up in her house and refused to leave. He had a cup with him and reeked of alcohol, she said. He told her he was going to choke her if she didn’t take him back.

A caller was near Flathead Lake in Somers when he saw several children out on the ice. He was afraid they would fall through. They were ice fishing and were fine.

A woman in Coram called to say she was trying to leave her ex-boyfriend, but he had locked her in and refused to let her leave. She claimed she had been trying to leave all week and he had been holding her hostage. The woman, when speaking to police, was hysterical and asked for some time to calm down before making a decision on what to do next.

A Columbia Falls resident called police after finding an old emaciated dog which had “frozen to the ground” on First Street West North. The owner was contacted and the dog was not frozen to the ground, but did have a paralyzed hind leg and deafness, explaining why it wasn’t moving.


The Hungry Horse Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle fire at 4:17 p.m.


The Polson Police Department made an arrest for driving under the influence on Fourth Street East.
