Carl P. Valentine, 72, passed away Jan. 2, 2015, in Kalispell after living life for 72 years.

Carl was born Oct. 19, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Virgil and Ora (Long) Valentine. He was the youngest of three children. Carl grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School and attended Arlington State College in Arlington, Texas.

In 1964, Carl married Darleene Harville of Cleburne, Texas. Carl, Darleene, and their children, Steven and Angela, lived in Texas before Carl, Darleene and Angela moved to Kalispell in 1990.

Carl was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and hiking. Carl also enjoyed fly tying and woodworking. Carl was a very loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend. He was a true Southern gentleman and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Carl and his wife Darleene celebrated their 50th anniversary in October of 2014.

Carl is survived by his wife, Darleene, of Kalispell; daughter, Angela Valentine, of Tulalip, Washington; son, Steven Valentine, of Richmond, Texas; sister, Joy Valentine Mabra, of Carlsbad, California; granddaughter, Lori Valentine Rose, of Cleburne; and several nieces and nephews.

One of Carl’s favorite places was the unspoiled wilderness and waters of Alaska. His family asks that Carl’s friends and relatives have a moment of silence in his honor when they are out in nature, as this is where Carl felt closest to God. No services are planned at this time.

Friends are encouraged to visit the website, www.buffalohillfh.com, to leave notes of condolence for the family. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
