Basketball roundup: Bigfork rebounds from tough loss, blows out Troy

BIGFORK — Top-ranked Bigfork bounced back from Friday’s loss to Class A No. 1-ranked Columbia Falls by thumping Troy 74-52 in a District 7B matchup on Friday.

Bigfork (6-1, 3-0) led 42-29 at the half.

Josh Sandry scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the first half for Bigfork.

Isaac Martel added 15 points, Ryder Trent was 5-for-5 from the field and finished with 13 and Jonathan Landon tallied 10.

Gage Tallmadge paced Troy with 19 points. Sean Opland had 13.

FLORENCE — The Florence boys hit a free throw with six seconds remaining in regulation to send their nonconference contest with Whitefish to overtime, where they outgunned the Bulldogs 7-2.

Cody Olson had a 14 points and Jack Streibich had 11 for Whitefish. Levi Clagett scored a game-high 25 points for Florence.

BIGFORK — Miranda Campbell led a balanced offensive display by Bigfork with her season-high 19 points as the Valkyries cruised to an easy District 7B victory over Troy.

Lana Berg had a double-double for Bigfork with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Also in double-figure scoring for the victors were Mattison McAnally with 13 and Marissa Hiza with 12.

Bigfork (5-2, 3-0) led 35-20 at intermission.

Allie Codlwell scored 13 points and Aurora Becquart 10 for Troy.

WHITEFISH — Florence exploded for 31 points in the second half to runaway with a nonconference win over Whitefish.

The Bulldogs, who led 26-22 at half, scored just 17 points after the intermission and couldn’t keep up with the fast-paced Class B program.

Haley Nicholson had 14 points to lead Whitefish. Ally Rust led Florence with a game-high 16 points.

Stillwater (6-2) led 30-14 at the half and never looked back.
