Basketball roundup: Flathead knocks off Missoula Sentinel

MISSOULA — Flathead outscored Missoula Sentinel 14-7 in the fourth quarter en route to a 50-43 Western AA boys basketball victory on Saturday.

The game was tied at 36-all heading into the last eight minutes of action.

Alex Croymans paced Flathead in scoring with 13 points.

Zaccheus Darko-Kelly netted 13 for Sentinel.

Flathead was 15 of 23 shooting from the charity line.

Simmons finished with 17 points.

Chase Bohne added 14 points and Brandon Conard 11 for Eureka.

Trais Hoisington led Thompson Falls in scoring with 20 points.

Isaac Neumann dropped in a game-high 20 points and Clayton Hashley followed with 14 as Stillwater (3-5) defeated Immaculate Conception Academy of Post Falls, Idaho, in a nonconference matchup at Stillwater Christian School.

Stillwater, up 37-29 at the break, enjoyed a big edge free-throw shooting, going 19-for-24.

POLSON — Jayce Fagerland hit six 3s and Ty Morgan added 18 points as top-ranked Columbia Falls pulled away from Polson in the second half for a Northwestern A victory.

Fagerland added a regular field goal to finish with a game-high 20 points. Grant Stenger netted 16 points for the victors and Grant Wallace finished with 10.

Payton Lefthand and Andrew Curley both scored 12 points for Polson.

The Pirates trailed by just four points in the third period before the Wildcats (8-1, 3-0) put the game out of reach.

TROY — A career-high scoring performance by Gage Tallmadge still wasn’t enough to give Troy a Class B nonconference victory over Ronan (4-3).

Tallmadge finished with 32 points. He was 14 of 17 at the free-throw line, hit six two-point field goals and had a pair of 3s. He tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter.

Troy (3-4) missed a shot at the end to tie the game and force overtime.

Columbia Falls (9-0, 3-0) held a commanding 41-13 lead at intermission.

Ciera Finberg led the offense with 15 points. Winter Kemppained had 13, Payton Kehr 11 and Cydney Finberg 10.
