William Keith Hall, 76

| January 12, 2015 5:56 PM

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, William “Bill” Keith Hall.

He peacefully left us on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, with his loving wife of 47 years, Janis (nee Almini), by his side. Bill is also survived by his daughters, Shannon and David Burch, and Shelly and Scott Zenew; grandchildren, Pierce and Kayden Burch; and brother, Gary, and Marilyn.

Bill was born on Sept. 29, 1938, and raised in Turner Valley, Alberta, and Kindersley, Saskatchewan. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Montana and a Master of Science degree from the University of Calgary, he dedicated his life to preserving threatened animals in Alberta. After working 31 years with the Alberta Government Fish and Wildlife, he retired in 1997.

In his leisure time, Bill could be found teaching young curlers, coaching competitive teams and umpiring the game he loved. Flathead Lake in Montana has a special meaning to the entire family and Bill created many memories in these glorious natural surroundings.

We would like to thank the staff at Villa Caritas Hospital and Capital Care Grandview for the compassionate care they provided both Bill and his family.

There is one thing Alzheimer's cannot take away, and that is love. Love is not a memory — it's a feeling that resides in your heart and soul.

Please join many family and friends as we celebrate Bill's freedom from the chaos of Alzheimer's disease at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at Sherwood Park United Church, 20 Fir Street, Sherwood Park, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Alberta Wilderness Association (albertawilderness.ca), Alzheimer's Society of Canada (alzheimer.ca/en), or Baycrest Foundation (baycrest.org).
