Hockey: Maulers shut out Wolverines

MISSOULA — Austin Azzinnaro scored the first and last goals and assisted on the second as the Missoula Maulers blanked the Whitefish Wolverines 3-0 in Western States Hockey League play on Thursday evening at the Glacier Ice Rink.

Azzinnaro’s first goal was on a power play.

Corey Schafer assisted on both Azzinnaro scores.

Noah Parker was perfect in goal for the Maulers, stopping all 27 shots by the Wolverines. Missoula had 48 shots.

Missoula improves to 22-8-1 in Northwest Division play. That’s good for third place.

Whitefish is currently fourth with a 12-19-1 mark.

Whitefish hosts the Missoula Maulers on Saturday at the Stumptown Ice Den. Action begins at 7:05 p.m.
