Rocky Mountain Classic: Three C-Falls grapplers in semifinals; Libby has 1
MISSOULA — Columbia Falls wrestlers turned in a strong showing on opening day of the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic at Missoula Sentinel.
Mason Fetters (120), Haze Bell (126) and three-time defending Class A state champion Shonn Roberts (138) all went 3-0 on Friday through the first three rounds.
Fetters pinned his first three foes in 2:43, 1:39 and 3:11.
Bell pinned his first two opponents, 3:57 and 3:47, and won by decision in the quarterfinal round.
Roberts won by pins, 1:34 and :19, and a major decision in the quarterfinals.
Those points helped Columbia Falls check in for a tie for 11th place with a 62 score in the team standings.
Havre, 123.5, leads with Great Falls High, 113.5, second and University High of Spokane, Washington, third, 90.5.
Fetters, Bell and Roberts open mat action this morning with semifinal action.
Joining that trio in the semis is Libby’s Zach Crace (152). He won his first three matches by a decision and two pins, 1:01 and 2:20.
Losing quarterfinal matches were Flathead’s Trae Vasquez (113), Polson’s Parker Adler (120), Tel Seemann (170) and Mike Corrigan (205), Glacier’s Ryder Day (126) and Quinn Barber (152), and Columbia Falls’ Kaleb Gravelin (132).
Kalispell (52) is tied for 13th in the standings, Glacier (48) is 17th, Polson (38) is 23rd and Libby (30) is 25th.
