Police called about strange package

A son called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report his father receiving a very strange package with a note attached. His father had been the victim of a scam before and wanted to alert the authorities.

A Marion resident called about people driving four-wheelers and towing kids behind them on sleds. They had knocked into several mailboxes and the caller wanted law enforcement to come scold them.

A Hungry Horse man found smokeless black powder and believed it was part of a terrorist attack. They man who owned the powder said he was going to use the power to “blow up the town.” The reporting man would come into the lobby to discuss more.

The Whitefish Police Department took a call from a concerned citizen who heard a blaring horn at the city beach attached to a pump. A city worker checked it out and cleared the situation.

A group of nearly 50 people were partying in a hotel’s meeting room, and a flustered employee wanted them to leave. They had been drinking heavily, but cleared out before any shenanigans could break out. 

A man was caught trying to break into a restaurant on Central Avenue, because apparently he didn’t think anyone would notice on one of the busiest weekends in town.

A 12th Avenue West woman called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a suspicious car outside her apartment. It was running with its lights off and had been doing so for some time. The woman was concerned because her front door was unlocked and she couldn’t get downstairs to lock it.

A silver husky-type dog was running around on 9th Street West and had entered a restaurant, probably looking for fry bread. The owner came and picked him up.

The Creston Fire Department took a call about a structure fire on Foothill Road at 12:41 p.m.

The Evergreen Fire Department took a chimney fire call on Dover Drive at 6 p.m.
