Basketball: Bigfork boys defeat Plains, 57-46

PLAINS — The No. 1-ranked Bigfork Vikings scored 15 points in each of the first three quarters to hold off Plains for a 57-46 District 7B boys basketball victory on Thursday night.

The Vikings led 30-21 at halftime and stretched their lead to 14 after the third quarter.

Plains outscored Bigfork in the final period, 15-12, but it was too, little too late.

Each squad saw three players reach double figures in scoring.

Bigfork was led by Ryder Trent, who finished with a game-high 18 points. Josh Sandry chipped in 15 and Isaac Martel added 10.

The Horsemen received a team-high 15 points from Aaron Baker while Ryan Ovitt and Kyle Revier each poured in 10.

Bigfork hosts Eureka tonight at 7 in a 7B matchup.

PLAINS — The Valkyries fought and clawed their way back into their District 7B matchup with Plains, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Trailing at the half 44-35, Bigfork outscored Plains 27-20 in the second half, scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter.

The Valkyries were led by Lana Berg, who led all scorers with 23 points. Matti McAnally finished with 18 points, and Marissa Hiza added 9.

Plains saw Leah Thompson score 15 points while Hailey Phillips added 13.

Kayla Holmes finished with 10.
