Basketball roundup: Trent, Martel help Bigfork down Eureka

BIGFORK — Ryder Trent tallied 20 points and Isaac Martel did all of his scoring with 11 points in the final eight minutes as top-ranked Bigfork defeated Eureka 61-56 in District 7B boys basketball play on Friday night.

Martel hit six crucial free throws on six attempts down the stretch to keep Bigfork on top.

Bigfork (10-1 overall, 6-0 league) led 28-27 at the half.

Josh Sandry just missed out on a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Jonathan Landon added 13 points for Bigfork and Isaac Martel scored 11.

Eureka (4-7, 2-3) was led by Trey Bohne, who had a game-high 27 points. He had five 3s.

Chase Bohne scored 19 points.

RONAN — Florence held off a late charge by Ronan to claim the District 6B victory.

Colton McCrea’s 3 at the buzzer from the top of the key rimmed out, leaving Ronan two-points short.

Ronan trailed by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter. McCrea and July Sorrell both hits 3s to rally Ronan.

Sorrell led the Chiefs with 14 points. McCrea added 13.

Travern Smith had 17 points for Florence.

THOMPSON FALLS — A pair of 22-point quarters carried Thompson Falls to an easy victory over Libby in a nonconference matchup of Class B versus Class A teams.

Thompson Falls rolled to a 22-10 lead in the opening quarter and tallied another 22 points in the third quarter to take a 58-23 lead into the final eight minutes of play.

Trais Hoisington tallied 20 points to power Thompson Falls.

Michael Curtiss and Collin Johnson both had eight for Libby.

Ronan, up 14-13 after the first period, led 24-16 at the half.

Ronan outscored Florence 35-18 in the second half.

Autumn Round scored 12 points to lead Ronan.

Hailey Craig led Libby offensively with 18 points. Shyla stevenson was next with 12.

Shey Hannum scored 20 points for Thompson Falls.
