John W. Schutt, 73

| January 30, 2015 3:28 PM

John W. Schutt fought a long battle with cancer and finally found peace Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2015.

He was born to John A. Schutt and Louise B. Craft on May 22, 1941, in his grandparents’ house on Second Avenue West North in Kalispell. John had been a Lake Blaine resident since 1963, where he raised his family and enjoyed the lake and the country solitude.

John was well known for owning and operating three different roller rinks in the Flathead Valley — Shady Lane in Kalispell, Bayview in Polson and Whoopie John’s in Columbia Falls. Throughout all that he had done, he was a glorified paperboy for the Daily Inter Lake, the Great Falls Tribune, the Spokesman and the Kalispell News.

John was preceded in death by both parents; and his sister, Barbara Benziem.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Schutt; his sons, Brian, Kirke, David and Kevin; daughters, Danette, Kimberly and Connie; with 16 grandkids and five great-grandsons. Other survivors who were left behind were a lot of family and good friends.

We are so thankful for all of the great care that was provided by Kalispell Regional Medical Center Hospice and making it possible for John to stay home all the way through the end. We would like to give a special thanks to Aimee and the rest of the Hospice caretakers.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A reception will follow at 1 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Kalispell. Family and friends are welcome to bring a side dish, salad or dessert.

In lieu of flowers, please leave any donations to Kalispell Regional Medical Center Hospice. Thank you!
