| July 4, 2015 9:00 PM

Kalispell Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 45 Ashley Creek Lane at approximately 8:15 a.m. Saturday. The fire was quickly put out at a multiple-unit residence. No injuries were reported and damages are estimated at $6,000.

The source of the fire was reported as human caused and accidental. Evidence of “improperly discarded smoking materials” and fireworks were found in the area where the fire ignited.

Other responders included Evergreen Fire Department, Smith Valley Fire Department, Kalispell Police Department, West Flathead EMS and Flathead Electric and Northwestern Energy.

Someone on Baker Avenue wanted Whitefish Police Department to do a welfare check on their intoxicated friend who allegedly had 17 beers and was walking around on a broken leg.

A passerby on East Third Street saw intoxicated males throwing stuff at a church and later trying to break “some sort of sign.”

A good neighbor on Birch Point Drive reported a boat parked in their neighbor’s dock that wasn’t supposed to be there. The neighbor said they thought the people were drunk and trying to party there. The boat left and later returned to drop off someone and then pulled away.

Items were reported stolen over two nights from a Central Avenue residence.

Golf clubs were reported stolen from a garage on Monterra Avenue.

A woman on Park Avenue said she heard a large firework explosion near Whitefish High School.

A woman on Eighth Street West told Columbia Falls Police Department that she almost hit a black lab and brindle mastiff with no tags and was concerned that they were out in the heat.

The two dogs were later seen celebrating their freedom in a man’s yard on Vans Avenue. While they didn’t seem vicious at first, they began barking and chased the man back into his house. Police attempted to contain the dogs but “they were not a fan of the man in blue.” The mastiff bit one person’s arm, but didn’t break the skin, and the little black lab slipped out of its collar. Unable to catch the dogs, police kept an eye on the dogs because animal control was unavailable.

Someone requested that four disorderly people be escorted from an RV park on U.S. 2 East.

Someone called in a hit-and-run accident involving a white van with a Steelers symbol on the driver’s door on Ninth Street West. The van allegedly tore off a mirror on the caller’s vehicle before speeding away at 50 miles per hour and reportedly running red lights, passing in a no-passing zone and driving erratically.
