Caller unhappy with wandering kids

The Kalispell Police Department received a call from an outspoken man in a U.S. 93 North parking lot who spotted two children ages 2 and 4 wandering around with no parents. The man was worried they would get run over. He claimed he could see the parents and threatened to “chew” them out. When dispatchers advised the man not to approach them until police could get there, he hung up. It was discovered that the “kids got away from grandma” but were back with her. The man said he would call back “if they get loose again.”

A woman on Two Mile Drive wanted to speak to an officer because her hanging potted plants looked like they were disturbed and believed her neighbors were involved in some sort of drug activity.

A disgruntled casino employee on East Idaho Street wanted to pursue charges against the person who “dumped their whole apartment into the Dumpster.”

An intense game of Twister angered a curmudgeon who said four or five teenagers on the back porch of a Widgeon Court residence were being “extremely loud.” The teens said they would “keep their game of Twister down.”

A weary mother on 10th Avenue West told dispatchers her 30-year-old daughter was “going nuts again” in the middle of the street.

A different woman was spotted screaming and yelling on U.S. 93 South. The woman said “she would keep the yelling down.”

Someone on Woodland Avenue and Fifth Street East reported a tan SUV had driven in an oncoming lane and almost hit several cars. The caller talked to the driver when he pulled over and believed he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody.

A concerned woman on Seventh Avenue West came home to find a house door open yet didn’t believe anything was missing at the time.


A woman who works at a Bridge Street business called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a broken figurine. She suspected the cleaning crew. She was later heard cursing at fellow employees. The figurine cost $43 to replace.

A woman with anger management issues on South Cedar Drive reportedly was punching holes in the wall because she couldn’t find her Jell-O.

A La Brant Road resident wanted to speak with animal control about the “abundance of cats on her property.”

Eight chickens reportedly perished at the paws of a dog on Alpine Lane. The dog was impounded.

There was a report of a vehicle turning left from a right-hand lane on Hutton Ranch Road that was described as a “grievous traffic violation” by the witness.

A man with a head tattoo was reportedly picking fights near Hungry Horse Boulevard.

One resident found a tricycle in her yard on Conrad Drive. It was described as an “adult” tricycle.

A van was reported to be traveling at 30 mph on U.S. 2 near Kila.

A man tried to casually get into a woman’s car on Seventh Street West. The woman was in the driver’s seat and didn’t know who the person was. She told the Columbia Falls Police Department that she drove away and the man threw up his hands “like he was frustrated.”


The Hungry Horse, Martin City and Badrock fire departments responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 2 near Berne Road. No serious injuries were reported.


The Coram Fire Department responded to a report of a dump truck that was on fire on U.S. 2.


The Whitefish Fire Department responded to a crash between a motorcycle and car on Montana 40. The biker reported a hurt hand.


An apparent hit-and-run on a rental car was reported in a Spokane Avenue parking lot to the Whitefish Police Department.

Someone finally called about a bicycle that had been locked to an East Second Street bike rack for nearly three months.
