WHITEFISH — After having a six-game winning streak snapped by the Bitterroot Red Sox on Tuesday, the Glacier Twins rebounded just a day later, sweeping the Mission Valley Mariners in an American Legion baseball doubleheader at Memorial Field on Wednesday.

The Twins bats didn’t take long to come alive in the opener, which Glacier won 10-3 before taking Game 2 in five innings, 11-0.

In the bottom of the first, Jayce Fagerland and Kyler Howke each reached base on errors and were driven in by Vinny Smith’s two-RBI single to center field, highlighting a five-run inning.

The Mariners cut Glacier’s 6-0 lead in half during the top of the third inning.

Bransen Krebs slapped an RBI single and Tyson Petticrew drove in two more with a single of his own.

But that’s all AJ Wetsch would allow.

The Twins pitcher shutout Mission Valley the rest of the way as his offense padded the lead with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings for the victory.

Glacier banged out 12 hits in Game 1, led by Fagerland and Smith who both finished 3 for 4.

Smith tallied four RBIs in the opener, but failed to drive in a run in the nightcap despite going 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple — finishing the series with six hits.

Greyson Bistodeau and Jesse Walburn combined for a two-hitter in the Twins 11-0 mercy-rule win, each allowing just one hit in the five-inning game.

Glacier scored 10 runs in two innings, plating five runners in both the second and third innings.

James Sampson-Keck went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Fagerland had two RBIs in Game 2 as did Tyler Murphy who went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Micah McClure and Justin Young earned hits for the Mariners, both ending their night with a 1 for 1 performance.

The Twins are back on action on Friday with a home doubleheader against the Missoula Mavericks A, starting at 5 p.m.

Mission Valley is back on the road for a twin bill in Eureka on Friday, taking on the Kootenai Valley Rangers at 5.
