CONRAD — The Kalispell 15-and-under Babe Ruth baseball team won its first two games of the state tournament, blowing out Havre and Northern to start the weekend.

Kalispell won its opening game 14-1 over Havre, holding them to one hit in a five-inning victory on Thursday. Kalispell pitcher Brady Pfeiffer struck out eight of the nine batters he faced and the team had four doubles on 14 hits.

The Kalispell 15s beat Northern 11-1 on Friday morning.

The Glacier 15s also won in a pair of blowouts, beating Miles City 18-2 and Bozeman 12-0.

The Glacier 14s began their state tournament with a resounding 20-0 win over Hi-Line, the Glasgow All-Star team, in the opener of the 14U state tournament on Friday in Helena. The Kalispell 14s topped Glendive 6-2 in their opening game.

Kalispell and Glacier’s 14U teams will play each other this morning for a spot in the championship game. The winner of the state tournament advances to the regional tournament July 25-30 in Lewiston, Idaho.

Glacier 13U boys lost in the semifinals of their state Babe Ruth tournament last weekend in Miles City, falling to the host Mud Cats 4-2. Miles City went on to beat Helena in the championship game. Glacier was the state champion the last two seasons, making it all the way to the Babe Ruth World Series last summer.
