Copper thieves hit cell towers

Multiple calls about copper theft were made to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The material was reported stolen from at least three cellphone towers in the area.

A housekeeper at a Montclair Drive business found a vagrant in a storage room. He left but deputies tracked him down.

A witness reported that a man at Raceway Park was “completely wacked out” and causing problems. He was described as wearing a dog chain. Authorities took him home.

The suspect of a theft from a U.S. 2 business near Kalispell produced a receipt for the items.

A “friendly” old dog showed back up at a Parkwood Lane home after previously being picked up by animal control.

A Tally Lake-area resident reported the sound of gunshots. The caller then switched subjects and complained about reckless drunk driving on nearby roads.

Deputies were unable to find a boy that reportedly flew a kite into a power line on the North Fork Road.

A load of trash was dumped on the south side of the Conrad Drive bridge.

A Bernard Road resident watched a man drive a truck onto her property and get stuck. He then became progressively more frustrated and “crazy,” according to the caller. He finally got the truck moving and went through several yards before getting back on the highway.


After reading an Inter Lake story, a caller gave the Whitefish Police Department additional information about a transient who used a hammock.

A Creek View Drive resident said drivers were avoiding a freshly paved roadway but driving through her lawn instead.

A woman called the police about a suspicious man following her. During the call, she told police to stand down because she recognized the man.


Someone called the Kalispell Police Department because a suspected panhandler at a U.S. 93 business was “annoying.”

One caller who had done “time” asked about owning a gun.

Another caller complained about some roadside puppy sellers on West Idaho Street. The caller said the puppies were said to be six weeks old, but she found out they were four weeks old.

Police arrested a man suspected of shoplifting from a West Idaho Street business.

It was 9 p.m., and a Santa Fe Street resident said that some kids were being loud nearby and making the dogs bark. She said it hurt her feelings.

A man reporting possible drug activity on Sunny View Lane wanted to remain anonymous but provided his middle name to dispatchers.

A “very intoxicated” woman was reported to be walking near 11th Street East in a skimpy outfit.

A vehicle was stolen from Woodland Park Drive. The owner reported leaving the keys inside. Police eventually found the car.

One caller wanted police to check on a woman who “looked desperate” near Whitefish Stage.

The owner of an East Idaho Street business called about several people sitting on the front porch, charging cell phones.

A man reportedly urinated on the side of a Third Avenue East North grocery store.

A Seventh Avenue West resident said that a neighbor stole a mail package and returned it later with an “inappropriate message.”

Three women were reported to be in a fight on East Idaho Street. One of them apparently wielded a hatchet.
