HELENA — The Glacier 14-and-under Babe Ruth All-Star team beat Kalispell 9-2 to advance to today’s championship game at the state Babe Ruth championship, but Kalispell’s 14s weren’t down for long.

The Kalispell team beat Glendive 4-3 in the loser-out semifinal later in the afternoon to advance to a rematch against Glacier in the championship.  The two teams will play in the championship at 9 a.m. today, with a second championship game scheduled at noon if necessary. The winner advances to the regional championship on July 25-30 in Lewiston, Idaho.

In their morning contest, Glacier scored three runs in the first inning against Kalispell and another three in the third to take a commanding 6-0 lead in the contest. Kalispell scored two runs in the bottom of the third but three Glacier runs over the next two innings spelled the end of the comeback.

Glendive beat Glasgow’s Hi-Line 11-0 earlier in the day to advance to the semifinals against Kalispell. Kalispell jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the contest only for Glendive to rally with three runs in the final two innings before falling short.
