NW well represented at Veterans Classic
VFW Post 12112 is hosting the 2nd annual Veterans Memorial Classic all-star softball tournament in Belgrade on Aug. 7-8.
The event, which honors Montana veterans who died in the line of duty, assembles the top all-state high school players from Class AA, A and B-C. There are four teams, each with 11 or 12 players. Each team will play four games.
Glacier, which captured its first AA state championship in May, will be represented by pitching standout Ali Williams. She’s on the Hal Henderson Air Force Team along with Carston Rhine of Ronan and Devon Gallagher of Libby.
Ashley Trueblood, a senior infielder from Columbia Falls, and Kendra Starkel of Ronan are on the Jack Anderson Marines Team.
Games on Aug. 7 will be played at 3 and 5 p.m.
Action on Aug. 8 resumes at 8 a.m. The consolation and championship games will be played at 7 and 9 p.m., respectively.
A home-run derby will be held on the first evening.
