Driver takes gas pump for a ride

A vehicle drove away from a U.S. 2 West business with the gas pump still connected, according to the Kalispell Police Department. The driver was nice enough to bring the hose back to the attendant after realizing the mistake, but immediately drove off again.

A woman stopped to “talk to” a man’s dog at Lawrence Park. Turned out the canine was not the only dog in the duo, however, when the man exposed himself. After the woman “tried to let to guy know that his genitals were showing,” he turned and exposed himself again.

Police received a complaint about a man on West Idaho Street who was holding a sign that was “very offensive” to the caller. The report did not indicate what the sign said, but the man was not breaking any laws, what with the First Amendment and all.

There was a complaint about a reportedly drunken woman yelling obscenities on East Idaho Street. An officer met her and found the woman to be “very pleasant” while on her way to get food.

A man was arrested after he was seen grabbing a pregnant woman by the hair on Eighth Avenue East.

Thieves stole a gun and a throwing knife from an unlocked car on Windriver Drive.

Whitefish Police Department responded to a three-vehicle accident that temporarily blocked traffic in southbound lanes on JP Road. An ambulance was called to check on one of the people involved in the accident.

It may have been Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” who called police from East Fourth Street to report a small “tornado” had picked up pole vault mats and a metal building and said “everything is strewn all over the area.” It appeared the building that was covering the mat was thrown, possibly hitting another building. No specific reports of tornados came in, but sometimes the proof is in the wreckage.

Someone on Murray Drive found a mysterious pile of wood “like that of a fire that was partially started,” on their back porch. Although nothing was burned, ash was left behind, staining the cement.

A woman on West Seventh Street said someone went through her mail and that half of her birthday cards were opened. She wasn’t sure if the cards contained money or checks.

A man on Spruce Court said he was being stalked and harassed during the morning so that he couldn’t get any sleep and wanted to file a report.


Columbia Falls Police Department received a call from a woman on Fourth Avenue West  about a man standing at the far end of a building, who “peeks his head around the corner” and gets “spooked,” when he sees her watching him. The woman said he appeared to be taking pictures of vehicles.

Someone on Eighth Street West reported seeing broken locks and windows on a few vacant houses.

Folks on Red Bridge Road said there was a man hanging around their residence claiming he was locked out of his vehicle, which was described as having “weird writing on it.”

A couple of males were found sleeping inside “the tire” behind the school at Fourth Avenue West.


West Valley Fire Department responded to a grass/brush/wildland fire on Whitefish Stage.

Evergreen Fire Department responded to a grass/brush/wildland fire on Whispering Meadows Trail.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report that checks were being written on a dead man’s account.

One caller believed that somebody put “something on her fan” that blew onto her face and burned her eyes and lips.

A Sundance Court resident reported his ex-girlfriend for taking his vehicle and refusing to return it.

Multiple paychecks were reported stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 93. The checks were later found at Herron Park.

A “sniper rifle” was reported stolen from a locked vehicle on U.S. 93 South near Kalispell. The apparent thief left behind a debit card with a name on it.

There was a report of a man wearing only underwear and walking on Shady Lane.

One caller said there were men wearing camouflage and crawling in an East Reserve Drive ditch. One of them was arrested on a felony warrant.
