February’s program at the Miracle of America Museum in Polson with the showing of “Timberjack” was a huge success with 80 people in attendance.

Treats and visiting followed the film and free-will offerings exceeded our goal to make a new sign for the logging cook shack which was pre-owned by the Anaconda Mining Company, lumber division. Excess money will go toward upgrading the Green Mountain schoolhouse sign.

Later calls wondered if we would show “Timberjack” again, and I may show it during our Live History Days celebration the third weekend in July.

The next free program will be Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. and guests will be able to “meet” noted area photographer Herman Schnitzmeyer, as played by Dennis Kellog, an avid collector and historian with a particular interest in this unusual and talented area photographer of the 1910s and 1920s.

Dennis has amassed quite an impressive collection of original photo equipment pre-owned by Herman and will exhibit many rare photos. A historic, educational, and enjoyable evening is promised. Early comers will be able to view some of the museum photo collection and another camera also pre-owned by Schnitzmeyer. Treats and donations are welcome.
