Friendly advice or too much information?

A front-desk employee at a Montclair Drive business received an odd phone call that she felt she had to report to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. A man called to say that he was in town and wanted to know where he could find a pair of socks to match his 13-year-old daughter’s dress. The call reportedly made the employee uncomfortable.

Two children reported a break-in on Main Street in Hungry Horse as it happened. They told dispatch that they heard banging on the walls. The children, who were hiding in their parents’ closet, said that they were armed with only a fork.

Deputies tracked a pair of suspected burglars who reportedly broke into a home on U.S. 2 West. The owner of the home said that two women broke in through a locked door and took jewelry, a safe and other items. Deputies searched for the suspect’s vehicle.

A Blazing Trail resident peered outside to find a seven-foot llama in the yard. It moved eastbound as the resident called the sheriff’s office.

A deer head was reported stolen from a porch on Salmon Avenue near Coram.

Two calves escaped through a hole in a fence and ran out from Creston Hatchery Road. A driver said that they ran right out in front of the vehicle and other cows were getting out as well. An animal control officer met with the cattle owner, who corralled the animals.

A citizen flagged down a deputy on Farm To Market Road to report speeders in the area.

The carburetor was reported missing when a Helena Flats Road resident picked up his four-wheeler from a repair shop. Deputies advised him that it was a civil issue.

A vehicle was reported to be swerving across the center line and onto the shoulder on Montana 206. The caller said that the truck finally pulled over — at a bar.

To send a message about bad parking, a woman reportedly started kicking a man’s car. The man reported this incident to the Columbia Falls Police Department. Officers tried to find the angry woman.

A woman locked herself in her car after a man threw her keys onto the roof, according to a report. The woman called the Whitefish Police Department and said the man wouldn’t let her leave and was trying to break the car window. An officer showed up to find that the man had been drinking. He helped the woman retrieve her keys.

Some “young neighbors” had piled up garbage in the yard, according to a Fourth Avenue East resident. A Kalispell Police Department officer arrived and concluded that it was nothing excessive.
