EAST HELENA (AP) — A head-on collision between a semi tractor-trailer and a pickup truck east of East Helena left one man dead and another man facing a felony charge.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the eastbound semi veered into the path of a westbound pickup truck shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday about 8 miles east of East Helena in Broadwater County.

Sheriff’s Capt. Nicholas Korthals says 45-year-old Gregory McFerrin of Broadwater County died on impact.

County Attorney Cory Swanson said the driver of the semi, 33-year-old Asad Khan of Stockton, California, was charged Tuesday with negligent homicide.

He did not enter a plea. His bail was set at $200,000.

Swanson said Khan is scheduled to enter a plea in District Court on Friday.
