Kids riding bikes prompt call to cops

| March 15, 2015 8:37 PM

A 12th Street West resident reportedly saw several kids riding bikes and a scooter come too close to his mailbox. The man went outside and threatened to “beat them all senseless,” prompting a call to the Columbia Falls Police Department to report child abuse.

A call reporting a large dog stuck in some netting at a local park prompted a strange incident with two possibly homeless people allegedly trespassing on county property. The people were stopped by officers while carrying large garbage bags with their possessions inside.

A man on Fourth Avenue West was reported creeping around a school building with a small bag and peeking into windows, prompting a suspicious person call. The man was a former teacher.

The Whitefish Police Department was called by a man reporting his ex-girlfriend had committed property damage. The two had a messy break up the night before and were separated by the police. The female party returned and allegedly broke a storm window. The man was calling not to press charges for the broken window, but so that officers knew he wasn’t the aggressor.

A caller reported her 12-year-old daughter was running in a park and was chased by an older man. Luckily the girl had her dog with her, but the man scared her quite a bit. No one was hurt but the man wasn’t found.

A group of girls allegedly threw a bag of flour at a man’s door on Columbia Avenue. He had recently told the girls they were not the type he wanted hanging around his son.

The Marion Fire Department performed an ice rescue at 8:05 a.m. Saturday morning.
