Just the sandwich, hold the soda

Workers at a U.S. 2 East business reported that a hungry motorist came through the drive-through and appeared to be drunk. He reportedly had a bottle of vodka riding shotgun, the caller told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

A student driver received a little more scrutiny than normal. Someone called about a semi-truck being driven by a teenager that “stops for a couple minutes at each intersection trying to get truck in gear.” As it turned out, the driver was practicing on Montana 35 with a licensed instructor.

Animal control advised a dog owner about quarantine procedures after the pet was bitten by a wild animal.

Three horses were on the loose near Holt Stage Road. The owner eventually came and rounded ’em up.

A generous Hungry Horse resident let somebody stay in an abandoned school bus near the Flathead Road during the winter. As the temperature rose, the property guest wouldn’t leave. The owner called the Sheriff’s Office to help with the eviction.

An assault was reported on Cooperative Way. The perpetrator was described as wearing red-and-white checkered shorts.


A man shoved a woman out of a moving car on 15th Street, according to a report to the Whitefish Police Department. The woman declined medical attention but shared the name of the assailant.

Someone reported that two men approached a stopped train and began opening the crates it was hauling. They stepped out of a vehicle with Canadian plates, according to the caller.


A woman thought she might need stitches after a dog jumped up and bit her on the lip. She called the Columbia Falls Police Department to keep an eye out for the dog around Martha Road.


There were no pins inside a man’s car, but somebody tossed a bowling ball through the window on Eighth Avenue West. The owner reported it to the Kalispell Police Department. The bowling ball was reportedly painted to look like a lady bug.

A U.S. 93 South business confiscated a man’s gun after he was cited for shoplifting. The man called police to ask how he could get his gun back.

A woman allegedly stole a beer from a First Avenue East North business and proceeded to drink it right out front in the parking lot. Police arrived and took the woman to jail.

A man reported that his ex-wife broke into his home and stole his cat.
