Esther Johnson, 94, passed away peacefully at the Heritage Place Healthcare Community on Sunday, March 8, 2015.

Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Cut Bank, she was the third of four children born to Alexander and Anna Sellars. Her father was a Border Patrol agent and she spent much of her childhood traveling around Montana and the United States with her family.

On July 17, 1947, she married Wesley Lyle Johnson and settled in Evergreen with her three children. They built a house on a 3-acre property together and she continued to reside there until 2013.

Esther loved children and worked from home as a childcare giver for many years. She enjoyed going to classic car shows and raising honey bees with her husband. She was very active in the community, particularly with the Eagles Auxiliary, where she won many All Star titles performed in rituals and served as president.

Esther is survived by her three children, George Johnson of Pullman, Washington, Mary Anne Cook of Helmville, Montana, and Charles Johnson of Waukesha, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; grandson, Michael Cook; her parents; one sister; two brothers; and daughter-in-law, Janice Johnson.

A memorial service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Eagles Lodge in Kalispell.
