Brock Lyndon Whitehead, 51

| March 24, 2015 9:00 PM

Brock Whitehead “went to rest in the arms of our Heavenly Father” on March 15, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. In 2013, he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, glioblastoma. He fought a good fight. His words always were, “God is faithful” and “Ya gotta keep on … keeping on,” and that’s just what he did.

Brock was a Flathead native and graduated from Flathead High. While in high school he was a boxer and wrestler, taking Montana State Golden Glove in boxing. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed many sports — water skiing and water surfing, fishing, skating and unicycling. His greatest passion was horses and participating in O-Mok-See competitions with his daughter Mackenzie, and camping with his son Landin and family. His children were the light of his world; he was so proud of them both. He was the best dad a child could’ve asked for, the best son and an amazing friend. Brock knew how to have fun and always found time for his family and friends.

Brock starting in the paving business at the age of 17 with his brother, Purnal. He worked for Ron Pack at Pack and Company, Ron Thornberry at T-Bend, and the last 16 years for Bill and Dallas Traeger, and was the superintendent for Glacier Paving. He loved paving and took so much pride in all his jobs. He was one proud man when, for his 50th birthday, his coworkers voted him the “Best Damn Paver in the Pavers Hall of Fame,” They had a special cap made with this inscription which he wore proudly.

Brock was preceded in death by his father, Purnal Whitehead; sisters, Carlene Whitehead, Leanna Whitehead and Sherry Lynn Hills; grandparents, Carl “Mike” and Agnes Pearson, Anthony and Edith Whitehead, Thomas and Gladys McGovern; uncle, Carl Pearson; his ex-wife, Robin Basnett, whom he was married to for nine years; and his life chosen brother, Lonnie Witzel.

He is survived by his mother, Colleen Wise; daughter, McKenzie Bolster; son, Landin Whitehead; brothers, Michael Hills and Purnal Whitehead; sister, Rhonda Jendro, and her husband; nieces, Luganda Koger, Amanda Moore, Sommer Daniels and Amy Lakkenof and their husbands; nephews, Michael Hills and Andrew Hills, Kurt Whitehead, Scott Whitehead, Daymion Hills and Adam Hills, and their wives, and Todd Byrd; uncles, Michael Pearson, and Don and Carolyn Pearson; and by his life’s chosen brothers, Jeff Basnett, Mark Marsh, Scott DeVall and Ray Hoerner.

Brock was active with the First Nazarene Church of Kalispell. He loved his Lord and Savior and was baptized on Easter Sunday, along with his son, in 2014.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. His leaving this earth leaves a huge void in the lives of many, but we know he is just beginning his greatest journey of all.

Cremation has taken place and all are invited to the celebration of his life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the Church of the Nazarene, located at 1295 Whitefish Stage Road.
