Reedy R. Hall, 80

| March 26, 2015 6:33 PM

Reedy R. Hall “passed into the arms of his heavenly Father” March 20, 2015, at home in Aztec, New Mexico, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Vertrees, Hardin County, Kentucky, and raised in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Reedy was an incredible musician and entertainer, and played music throughout Kentucky and Tennessee. In 1962, he moved to Montana where he met and fell in love with his beloved wife, Joan E. “Joanie” Durham Hall. Reedy and Joanie played music in Kalispell, and Reedy worked as a disc jockey hosting a country music show. They married Sept. 12, 1964, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kalispell. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo, Utah, Latter-day Saints temple.

Reedy attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and the University of Montana where he received his master’s degree in business and math in 1968. He loved teaching, but his real love was music and entertaining. Reedy and Joanie played music together in their band, Reedy Hall and the Hallmarks, and toured throughout Montana, the Western United States and Canada. They played music for many summers in Seeley Lake, which was Reedy’s favorite place.

In 1978, Reedy and Joanie bought The Country Palace nightclub in Flora Vista, New Mexico, where they played music and entertained for many years. Reedy had friends in Nashville, Tennessee, and booked many of the biggest country music artists to play at the County Palace and San Juan County Fairgrounds. In 2007, Reedy and Joanie sold the Country Palace, and traveled throughout the United States sharing precious time together until July 2014, when Reedy became seriously ill.

In addition to being a musician and entertainer, Reedy was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and dearly loved his extended family and friends. Reedy greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially boating and skiing with family and friends. He was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Reedy is survived by his beloved wife, Joan E. Durham Hall; his son, Michael R. Hall, and wife, Anita, of Elizabethtown, and sons Drew, Sean and Logan; son, David R. Hall, and his wife, Kelli Mullin Hall, of Winthrop, Maine; son, Daniel C. Hall, and his love, Sonia Salgado, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his children Siera, Brooklynn and Nicholas; and daughter, Brenda L. Hall, of Missoula, and her children, Trebor Riddle and Blaise L. Hall. He is also survived by his dear sister, Alene Martin, of Elizabethtown; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David E. and Lena M. Hall; brothers, Staley, Bernie and Jodie Hall, and baby daughter, Hilary H. Hall.

He will always be loved and deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 27, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington, New Mexico. There will also be a visitation at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, prior to the service.
