Dads and new life

| March 28, 2015 9:00 PM

Well, spring has sprung as they say — green up, bunnies, chicks, calves, foals, and fawns. The kids are alive with spring fever. It’s hard to hold that enthusiasm down. We open up our homes — out with the stale air, in with the fresh. People wave to each other, smiles are everywhere. We are thankful to have made it through another winter.

Physically we are into spring. Where are we spiritually? Still in winter?

Easter is the commemoration of Jesus’s sacrifice and resurrection to bring us new life. It was for naught if we don’t embrace it. We dads are the leaders of our families. Our families are the foundation of our society. We are under attack at all times. We need the armor provided by Christ. Where can we get that armor? In scripture and at church. We as dads have a fundamental responsibility and a mandate to lead our families to new life in Christ. We are where we are supposed to be; now we must do what we are supposed to do.

From the billions of people in this world, you found your wife. Your commitment to only each other is a miraculous blessing. In all the world there is one person you can turn to and count on at all times. From that blessing comes your family. You are the patriarch, the leader. Will you lead them to new life? Happy and holy Easter. —Jay Trepanier, Kalispell
