An iPod, a W-2 tax form and “some seeds of some sort” were found near U.S. 93 South. A citizen turned the items into the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, likely stopping some kind of diabolical scheme.

A woman took some time off from her kids by letting them stay with their grandparents. The plan backfired when the grandparents wouldn’t return the kids.

Simply riding a motorcycle wasn’t enough for a man traveling down U.S. 2 East, according to a report. Another driver told the sheriff’s office that the rider was standing on the bike, sitting backwards and not holding onto the handlebars.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a woman “yelling at objects” on 12th Avenue West. Alcohol was a factor in the vocal vitriol, according to police.


A man’s wife was “charged” by a neighbor’s dog on River Lakes Parkway. According to the report, the neighbor was present but “was not concerned.” The husband was concerned and called the Whitefish Police Department.

A Border Patrol agent found a small amount of methamphetamine and asked police to pick it up for disposal.

A man called about some guns that were taken from him three years ago while he was in the “nut hut,” as he put it. The man wanted to know if he could get them back.


A 911 call to the Kalispell Police Department turned out to be a wayward fax machine that was not in trouble.


The final grass fire tally for regional fire departments was seven on Monday. Four happened within one hour, from Columbia Falls to Bigfork and in between. Four departments responded, with others lending assistance. Crews also inspected two reports of odd smoke pillars and one illegal burn.
