Legion baseball: Glacier Twins A; Kalispell Lakers AA sweep Mavs, Bandits

WHITEFISH — The Glacier Twins A improved to 5-1 on the American Legion baseball season Saturday afternoon by taking a doubleheader from the Missoula Mavericks AA.

Glacier scored a run in the bottom of the seventh game for a tight 2-1 victory in the opener.

Vinnie Smith singled to right field in the seventh with one out. He advanced to second and moved to third on a single to left field by Jesse Walburn and scored on a throwing error on the play.

Glacier did all of its scoring in the first two innings to claim a 5-3 win in the second game.

Walburn, 2 for 3, doubled in the opener.

Smith went 4 for 4 in the second contest. One of those hits was a triple. Greyson Bistodeau had the other extra-base hit for the Twins, a double.

Glacier has won four straight. The Twins host the Belgrade Bandits A today in a doubleheader at Memorial Field beginning at noon.

The Kalispell Lakers AA rode a strong pitching performance by Logan DeCock in the opener and cashed in on the hitting of Tiler Whiteaker and Levi Brennenman in the second game to sweep a nonconference doubleheader from the Belgrade Bandits A.

DeCock went the distance for the Lakers. He checked Belgrade on three hits, struck out seven and issued just one walk.

Whiteaker and Brennenman both went 3 for 4 in the other outing. Brennenman had two RBIs along with Leif Ericksen, who went 2 for 3.

Kalispell totaled 11 hits in that contest.

Kalispell is back in action today at the Mission Valley Mariners A. The doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.
