The Glacier Wolfpack powered its way to a 12-1 nonconference home victory on Tuesday, belting three home runs to beat the Libby Loggers in six innings at Kidsport Complex.

Erin McHugh launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning only to be followed by Kayleena Ikeda’s solo-shot in the next at-bat. The Wolfpack (16-3 overall, 9-2 Western AA) scored five runs in the inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Libby (11-4, 3-2 Northwest A) finally got on the board in the fourth inning, pushing one run across the plate, but Glacier answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half.

Leading 10-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, pitcher Ali Williams hit a two-run shot that proved to be a walk-off homer as the Wolfpack earned a 10-run mercy-rule victory.

“Libby is a well coached team. They have great players,” Glacier coach Andy Fors said. “We knew they were going to have a lot of momentum coming into today after beating Frenchtown. Tonight being senior night, the girls were very focused and were ready to go.

“Its always nice when you don’t have to rely on the long ball, but we’ll sure take them when we get them.”

Williams finished 4 for 4 with three RBIs while McHugh was 3 for 3 at the plate, adding three RBIs of her own.

Ikeda, Alivia Atlee, Mackenzie Brester-Knight and Kate Wiley each tallied two hits and an RBI for the Wolfpack.

Williams also dominated the circle for Glacier. The junior struck out 11 batters in six innings of work.

The Loggers’ Devon Gallagher and Auria Benefield had a hit and an RBI for Libby.

Despite the loss, Libby pitcher Hannah England struck out eight batters.

Glacier wraps up the regular season on Thursday with a crosstown matchup against Flathead at Conrad Complex.
