Bigfork's Potkonjak in range at State B golf
BILLINGS — Bigfork junior Joseph Potkonjak is in a tie for fifth place after shooting a 4-over-par 76 at EagleRock Golf Club on Tuesday, the opening day of the Class B state tournament.
The Bigfork boys are in seventh place in team scoring with 338 strokes. Manhattan leads the field at 317.
Potkonjak is still within distance of the tournament leaders. Manhattan’s Joey Peter is in front as the only golfer to go under par in the opening round, shooting a 4-under 68 to lead the field by five strokes. Two golfers are tied for second at 73 and one at 74 ahead of Potkonjak.
Bigfork’s Colton Stodghill is is three strokes out of the top 15 after the first day, shooting an 82. Ryder Trent shot an 88, Jonathan Landon 92 and Augie Emslie 96.
Ronan’s Fisher Neimeyer is tied for 15th at 79.
The Ronan girls team is in 10th after its opening round at Pryor Creek Golf Club in Huntley. Plains’ Jade LaDeaux is tied for 15th, shooting a 98.
Missoula Loyola-Sacred Heart leads the team competition and the Breakers’ Sadie Crippen leads the individual field by nine strokes, shooting a 2-over-par 74.
