Well-to-do squatter brings own plane

The owner of 130 acres near Lake Blaine was reportedly surprised to find an airplane on the property. In the adjacent house, someone had opened all the cupboards and moved the couch into the bedroom. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office marked the area for extra patrol.

A loose dog kept coming back to a Middle Road property and chasing pheasants.

A Park Avenue woman said that she went to get her mail one day and found that somebody had raided a package containing vitamins. She said she would re-order the vitamins.

Two people were reportedly sleeping in an empty, but private, lot on U.S. 2 near Kalispell.

The county road department said a driver near KM Ranch Road had repeatedly harassed a road worker.

A good citizen found and turned in a lost wallet. The owner said that it was unfortunately missing $200.

A man wanted to get his gun back after his friend was arrested with it.

There was a report of a man mowing his lawn and flipping off his neighbor. A deputy was dispatched to assess the situation.

A Jack Russell terrier was accused of killing a Poplar Drive cat. The owner of the cat said that the pup had been a constant problem.

An absent-minded thief attempted to steal a pressure washer but failed, according to the property owner. The alleged vandal did leave behind a backpack with a name and a bicycle, however.

In this latest neighbor feud, one Foothill Road resident threw a “bucketful of a white substance” onto another property, according to a report.

Deputies arrested a man on a warrant after he was turned in by his father.

Someone found a stray golden retriever on Tamarack Lane. It was taken to the animal shelter.

Somebody kicked in the door of a Jensen Road shop and stole a toolbox, according to the property owner.

A Shady Lane resident reported that young people keep “sneaking underneath” his trailer, pushing up on the floor and bouncing balls off the wall.

The Somers-Lakeside Fire Department led a search for a reported downed airplane. It stemmed from a call about a plane that was smoking and flying low toward Flathead Lake. Air and ground response answered the call.


The Whitefish Police Department received a call about a man who was running out in front of cars on Wisconsin Avenue.


A mysterious white van reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department turned out to be a cable repair employee waiting for a resident.


A caller told the Kalispell Police Department that a group of people have been camping near Woodland Avenue. The caller gave a detailed description of the location, which turned out to be private property.

After evicting tenants from a Third Avenue West North home, the landlord arrived to find that the door had been kicked in.

An officer counseled some young skateboarders who were playing in the middle of Fifth Street West.

Police broke up an apparent fight between a man and woman on East Montana Street. Two separate people reported it, one saying they were “hitting each other in the head.”

A woman went to the police station to show them a dollar she had received in change from a U.S. 93 business. It reportedly had some “concerning stuff on the back of it.”

A “white haze” filled a U.S. 93 warehouse and gave the caller a headache. Police and other responders contained the unidentified leak.

Police arrested a man who was “falling down into traffic” on Eighth Avenue West.

A U.S. 93 South hotel reported that somebody was coming in and stealing from their guest breakfast.

A gang of feral cats, including one “very sick” feline, was living underneath a house on First Street East.

Police cited a woman who thought she could just walk out of a Hutton Ranch Road business carrying a stolen air conditioner. She was banned for life from the store.
