Glacier's Hill breaks 800 mark at divisional track

MISSOULA — Freshman Annie Hill of Glacier posted her best time in the 800-meter run on the season, crossing the finish line in 2 minutes, 10.05 seconds for the fastest time in the state at Friday’s Western AA divisional track and field meet.

Her mark set a new meet record, shattering the time of 2:14.9 set by Helena High’s Carly Smiedala in 2014.

Hill also won the 3,200, finishing in 11:05.31 to hold off Flathead’s Gillian Maness, who came in second with a time of 11:12.42.

The Glacier girls currently sit in second place in the team standings, just two points behind Missoula Big Sky.

Keyawna Larson was Glacier’s other winner, tossing the javelin 149 feet, 2 inches to win the event.

Aaron Robinson was the lone local to win on the boys side. The Glacier jumper won the long jump with a leap of 21-9.

Jake Perrin and Sylas Schutt of Flathead finished second and third, respectively, in the 3,200. Perrin was timed in 9:43.48, Schutt in 9:49.41.

The Braves are in second in the team standings. Glacier is third.

Action resumes today at 11 a.m.
