POLSON —  Libby’s Dayln Germany and Devon Gallagher each drove in two runs as the Loggers held off the Polson Lady Pirates for a 7-4 Northwestern A softball victory on Friday.

After jumping out to an early 4-0 lead in the third inning, the Loggers were challenged by Polson.

With the bases loaded, Polson’s Haley Fyant drilled a double to clear the bases and cut the deficit to one run.

The Loggers tacked on one more in the fifth before Gallagher hit a two-run home run in the top of the final inning.

Polson threatened in the bottom of the seventh when Hannah Fryberger launched a solo home run, but Libby pitcher Hannah England wouldn’t allow another run, retiring the side for the win.

“(Libby) just had more timely hits than we did,” Polson coach Larry Smith said. “Hitting wise it was pretty even, but they played a very clean defensive game.”
