The Kalispell Lakers defeated the Ferris Saxons 16-3 on Sunday to claim the A championship of the Canadian Days Tournament at Griffin Field.

The Lakers went 4-0 in American Legion baseball tournament play over the weekend.

The title game ended after five innings on the 10-run rule.

Kalispell put the game out of reach by scoring 11 runs in the fourth inning.

Kalispell outhit Ferris 9-2.

Torin Bowden tripled, singled and drove in three runs for the Lakers.

Lakers pitcher Cade White went the distance on the mound, allowing just two hits.

“Pitching really settled in as the weekend went on,” Lakers A coach Jesse McFarland said.

“The pitchers gave us a chance to win all weeekend.

“We hit like we have all year — a lot,” McFarland added.

“Offensively we scored a lot of runs.

“I like the mentality of our team. The kids are working hard and it’s paying off so far.”

A complete boxscore from the title game was not available.

The Kalispell Lakers and Sherwood Park Dukes played in the AA championship game on Sunday afternoon. No results were available from that matchup.

The Lakers AA host the Libby Loggers A on Wednesday for a single game starting at 6:30 p.m.

The next outing for Lakers A (10-6) is the Memorial Day Tournament in Missoula, which begins Saturday. The Lakers AA will also play in that tournament.
