The Flathead boys won a share of the Class AA state track and field championship, splitting the title with Helena High on Saturday at Legends Stadium.

Jess Beaman defended his state triple jump championship and Jake Perrin won the 1,600-meter run to bolster a deep outing by the Braves on the final day.

The Glacier boys finished third as a team.

The Bigfork and Glacier girls each entered the final race of the day with a chance to claim a state title, but had to settle for second place.

The Valkyries set a Class B record in the 4x400-meter relay, but Plains, who entered the race leading by seven points, finished well enough to seal a team victory. Bryn Morley won the 800 and Makena Morley the 3,200 earlier in the day.

The Glacier girls trailed Billings Senior by a half point entering the long relay, and led halfway through the final lap, but finished third as the Broncs and junior Christina Aragon sprinted through the finish. Annie Hill won the 3,200 to claim her first individual state title.

The Manhattan boys won Class B team title in a rout, becoming the first Class B boys team to record 100 points in a state meet.

Troy’s Sean Opland won the 200 and Bigfork’s Logan Morley won the 1,600.
