MISSOULA — The Kalispell Lakers AA lost to the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Lumbermen 3-0 on Monday evening in the championship game at the Memorial Day tournament.

The Lakers also lost to the Lumbermen earlier in the day in the final pool-play game for both teams. The score from that game was not available.

Kalispell finished second in this tournament two years ago.

In the finale, Coeur d’Alene scored twice in the second and once in the seventh.

“Logan DeCock pitched a great ballgame for us,” Lakers manager Ryan Malmin said.

“He gave us a chance to win. We couldn’t capitalize with runners on base.”

The Lakers stranded seven runners.

DeCock allowed eight hits (all singles), struck out six and walked three batters.

“Our pitching staff was great, we hit the ball well the first two days,” Malmin said. “We played pretty clean defensively until the game this morning.”

Kalispell finished the tournament with a 3-2 mark.

The Lakers (13-8) are home for American Legion baseball doubleheader action on Saturday, 1 p.m., and Sunday, noon, with Helena and Butte.
