Three teens up the river without a raft

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to help three teenagers who were stuck on an island on the Flathead River. Their raft got stuck on a downriver log. They weren’t injured, and Sheriff’s Office boats ferried them to the mainland.

One nearby resident called to complain about a woman running dogs off of a leash at Leisure Park.

A group of about five horses made their way to the middle of the highway in Lakeside, backing up traffic. Deputies helped to contact the owners.

A U.S. 2 business near Kalispell requested help to remove a man with “greasy hair” from the premises. He was allegedly panhandling.

Deputies received a report of a reckless driver on Montana 35 who hit a parked SUV and conspicuously had its “flashers” on.

On a 911 call, dispatch was met with the sound of a child singing into the phone. The kid reportedly exclaimed, “It does work!” This was determined to be an accidental dial.

There was a report of a car and a pickup “chasing each other on Montana 82. The pickup was carrying a boat, so it seems that the car had an advantage.


The Kalispell Police Department arrested one woman who allegedly choked and “took a swing” at a man on Eighth Avenue West. The woman was treated for knuckle injuries.

One caller watched a minivan drive in circles in a Hutton Ranch Road parking lot. The caller thought this to be the work of a drunken driver.

A car struck a pole on Seventh Avenue West. Nobody was injured, though the utility pole was in bad shape.

Someone called from First Avenue West to report that a neighbor turned on a loud “screeching animal” recording in the middle of the night.

A truck went off-roading through the yard of a Vista Loop resident, according to one call.

Dispatch received a call on the 911 line. Someone could be heard saying “Oh crap, this is 911” in the apparent misdial.

A man threatened to burn a house down on Eighth Street West and then rode away on a bicycle, according to a report.

A burglary was reported after a worker showed up to a shop at Fifth Avenue East North and found the windows pried open.

A man told police that he damaged his Cadillac after hitting “some unmarked construction” on Bluestone Drive.

Evergreen Fire Rescue responded to a fire that engulfed a boat on East Reserve Drive. The boat was sitting on a trailer in the yard.


A passing driver reported a “small male” sitting near Fourth Avenue West. It turned out to be a child, and a Columbia Falls Police Department officer helped him get home.

Medical assistance was requested after a woman reportedly started hitting people on Nucleus Avenue.


Some passengers apparently abandoned a vehicle in front of a U.S. 93 business, according to a report to the Whitefish Police Department. The witness said one of them ran and jumped into the river.

A resident of East Third Street called the police because he was “tired of folks walking their dogs without leashes.”
