Wolfpack pair, four more from Class A named to all-state softball
All-state and all-conference softball teams were announced on Tuesday for both Class A and AA, and the Flathead Valley garnered plenty of accolades after several successful seasons on the diamond.
In Class AA, the Glacier Wolfpack earned two all-state selections in junior pitcher Ali Williams and senior second baseman Kayleena Ikeda.
Williams was a dominant force in the circle, guiding the Wolfpack to the Class AA state title and a 22-3 record — the most wins of any Glacier softball team. She struck out 272 batters on the year, the third most in state single-season history.
Williams and Ikeda were both first-team Western AA selections. Sophomore first baseman Erin McHugh and senior shortstop Kayla Russell were named to the Western AA second team while senior Katie Wiley was an honorable mention.
The Flathead Bravettes’ Abbie O’Brien was a Western AA second-team utility selection. Teammates Kaitlin Torgerson, Kylee Meredtih and Becca Knutson earned honorable mention honors.
In Class A, the Libby battery of pitcher Hannah England and catcher Devon Gallagher earned all-state accolades as did Polson third baseman Taylor Brackey and Columbia Falls pitcher Ashley Trueblood.
The Lady Pirates, who claimed third place at the Class A state tournament, had nine total honorees on the all-conference list, including first-teamers Kaelen Wall and Brackey.
The state-qualifying Loggers had five selections with Staci Regh, Mahalah Wedel, Madisen Monigold, England and Gallagher all named to the first team.
Four Wildkats earned accolades for Columbia Falls. Peyton Kehr and Trueblood were first-team selections.
Junior Michaela McDowell was the lone honorable mention selection for Whitefish.
