Walker Malmin had a big game at the plate in the first game and Leif Ericksen delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning of the finale as the Kalispell Lakers AA swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader from Butte on Sunday afternoon at Griffin Field.

Malmin went 3 for 3 with five RBI in a 13-0 victory in the opener. He doubled and tripled in that outing.

Sam Crompton picked up the win, pitching four innings. He gave up one hit, walked four and struck out three.

Kalispell put the game away with a nine-run second inning.

Ericksen had a walk-off single to right field with the bases loaded to give Kalispell the one-run victory in the second game.

It was Ericksen’s only at-bat.

Tiler Whiteaker went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Andrew Schleusner doubled for Kalispell in that contest.

Logan DeCock pitched the seventh inning to pick up the win. He fanned two batters and walked one.

“It was a little frustrating in that we rolled them in the first game, but were a little more passive in our attack in the second game,” Lakers manager Ryan Malmin said.

“But it was fun to see the kids battle back. They need games like that to know they can do it (pull it out).”

Kalispell (15-6 overall) is home Wednesday for a single nonconference game with the Mission Valley Mariners A. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

NOTE: Saturday’s doubleheader with Helena was rained out.
