Man reported drinking while driving

| May 31, 2015 9:00 PM

The Columbia Falls Police Department took a call about a man driving toward Columbia Heights while drinking alcohol in the car. The driver, a redhead with no teeth, was driving three young children and an adult female passenger while chugging beers.

A Martha Road woman noticed a supposedly vacant apartment above her had an open window. She was afraid there were squatters living there and was concerned for her children. The apartment was empty.

A woman called the police to report a flower pot had been stolen off her grandparents’ headstone at a cemetery. The pot had blown off during the thunderstorms on Saturday and maintenance people had cleaned it up.

A woman was receiving scary texts from someone saying her ex-boyfriend had slit his wrists. She wasn’t sure if the texts were coming from said ex-boyfriend or someone else.

A man was “helped” out of a bar on U.S. 2 after he had been overserved and was fall-down drunk. He fell asleep outside the bar and his phone and wallet were taken from him. Bar patrons confronted the thief, who took off in a vehicle.

A Copperwood Court neighbor called the Whitefish Police Department to report a trio of dogs who barked loudly all day long. The renter in the household and the landlord had been told to do something, but barking continued. A citation was issued for the owner.

The West Valley and Whitefish fire departments responded to two separate motor vehicle fires, one on U.S. 93 North at 9:03 a.m., the other on Voerman Road at 3:01 p.m.
