Caller reports reckless shooting

A pedestrian called the Whitefish Police Department to report someone in a large black truck driving by and shooting a pistol in the air. The caller thought the truck might be headed toward Wisconsin Avenue, but officers were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

A Baker Avenue business employee called police, reporting that she had been bitten by a dog a few days earlier. The dog allegedly belongs to another employee, and the bite broke the skin but the caller didn’t seek medical attention at the time and wanted to file a report.

The manager of a U.S. 93 South business called to report a trespasser on the store premises. Before officers could get to the location, the unwanted guest moved on.

Whitefish police advised some kids hanging out on the train tracks to move along.

A caller reported a tree had fallen into the road on Edgewood Drive, blocking the westbound lanes.

A Central Avenue business asked for assistance getting a disorderly man to leave.

Another Central Avenue establishment called for help to remove a different unruly patron.

Police responded to a fight on Wisconsin Avenue involving neighbors. Apparently it was part of an ongoing dispute.

A concerned man on Spokane Avenue called to report another man he thought to be suicidal. The caller was worried because he allegedly received a text from the man stating he wanted to “kill himself because he is tired of life.” Officers found the texting man had been kicked out of a Whitefish bar and was walking home, but had no intention of harming himself.

A caller reported her house had been ransacked by an ex-boyfriend. She said there was damage to walls and furniture. She did not want to press charges, but wanted to make sure law enforcement had a record of the incident.


The Columbia Falls Police Department responded to reports of a break-in on Third Avenue East. A truck had reportedly been stolen from the location.

Officers offered assistance to the occupants of a vehicle with a flat tire on Ninth Street West.


The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to two separate reports of grass fires: One on Halfmoon Road and the other on Ninth Street West.

The Creston Fire Department responded to two grass fire incidents: One on Lake Blaine Road and the other on Montana 35.

The Smith Valley Fire Department also responded to two grass fire reports: One on Whitebear Road and the other on Ashley Lake Road.
