LETTER: Cunningham would bring fresh set of eyes to City Council

| November 1, 2015 11:00 AM

Do you know that moment when you realize your son is a grown man? And then the joy of seeing that he’s smart and capable? And then the heartfelt pride when you see he’s a good person who cares about things and is working hard to be a good man in the community?

I’m lucky to have known this joy, and I’m also lucky to have a young friend, Christopher Cunningham, who makes me proud just like that. He’s running for Kalispell City Council, and I hope you’ll vote for him. Unlike all the politicians these days, Christopher doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. But what he does have, is great intelligence and the willingness to put in the time to study and learn, and to look at things with fresh eyes.

Unlike the politicians these days, Christopher isn’t in this for selfish gain and to defend the old failed ways of doing things. But instead, he is willing to listen and truly hear what the people around him have to say, with an open mind and a compassionate heart.

Unlike the politicians these days, Christopher still has some ideals. He still believes in duty, and responsibility; he believes in standing up for what’s right; he’s willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of others; and he still believes in democracy that can work.

And as cynical as I am after watching this horrible circus for all these years, Christopher makes me believe that it can work too. I know that if we had more like him in office, things would run better. Let’s make it happen. Please vote for Christopher Cunningham for Kalispell City Council Ward 3. —Cheryl M. Wolfe, Polson
