LETTER: Mailer should not dissuade you from voting for Hildner, Sweeney

We have our own version of the Koch brothers right here in Whitefish. The Kochs think they can “buy” their way into the political process with their monetary influence.

We received our slick, expensive, misleading propaganda flyer in the mail from Mr. Richard Atkinson. He is quite well-known for his philanthropic ventures to move Whitefish ahead as an excellent place to live and work. However, he has taken on the City Hall/parking garage project as his personal vendetta. It was clear, through multiple public hearings, that the majority of Whitefish residents wanted to keep City Hall in the center of town and were tired of trying to find parking space downtown. The City Council has been listening and took action to move on this much needed plan.

Disparaging fellow Whitefish citizens, who take their time and expertise to serve us in positions such as the City Council, is not our Montana way. We prefer facts that reflect the truth, not hype printed in colorful, expensive mailings.

Richard Hildner and Frank Sweeney have served the residents of Whitefish well with their ability to listen to their constituents and then act accordingly. They are working hard for the betterment of us all living and working in Whitefish.

I hope that others will express their true feelings, as I have here, about our life in Whitefish by voting for Hildner and Sweeney. Do not let this opportunity pass! —Dennis Haverlandt, Whitefish
