Class AA soccer: Glacier, Flathead well represented on All-State and All-Conference teams
Glacier’s Colton Becker and McKayle Dennehy, and Flathead’s Stephanie Wilson have been named to the Western AA All-State teams, three of 19 Kalispell soccer players who earned All-State or All-Conference honors.
Becker easily led Western AA in scoring with 16 goals, six assists and a total of 38 points, 16 more than any other player. This is the second straight All-State commendation for the senior, who was an All-Conference performer as a sophomore.
Behind Becker, Glacier finished fourth in Class AA at the state tournament in 2014 and returned to the tournament this year.
Dennehy, a senior midfielder, earned All-State honors for the first time after landing on the All-Conference team as a junior.
Three other members of the Wolfpack — Parker Bedard, Ben Wright and Cadie Williams — were named to their respective All-Conference squads, with another five garnering honorable mention.
Flathead’s Wilson was the co- Player of the Year in Class AA last season and makes her second straight appearance on the All-State team. Like Becker, Wilson earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore in 2013.
Three Braves boys were named to the All-Conference team: keeper Micah Bucy, midfielder Jace Darrow and defenseman Carter Warnell.
Bucy recorded five clean sheets in his first year as a starter, and Darrow and Warnell both made the All-Conference team for the first time as seniors.
The Bravettes backline was well represented on the All-Conference squad, with senior defenders Amanda Buxton (an All-State pick last year) and Lara Zander each honored.
Three more Bravettes received honorable mention.
Missoula Hellgate keeper Peter Byrne, who allowed only two goals all season, was named the Western AA Player of the Year. Missoula Sentinel’s Brittany Delridge, who shared the honor with Wilson last season, claimed the girls award.
