LETTER: 911 'vote' unfair

I protest the passage of the establishment of the 911 call center ballot because of how the Flathead County commissioners want to usher it in.

The suggestion that any ballot not cast is a vote in their favor is a real smack in the face of the U.S. Constitution. Whatever happened to one man, one vote? And why “must it be construed” in their favor, instead of rejecting their proposal?

This is nothing more than an effort to stack the deck and hijack every vote not cast. If the commissioners are allowed to conduct every election using this formula, then they will win every time and deny the democratic will of the people. This is a deception of the most sinister kind.

These commissioners should be exposed and fired for their shameless abuse of our rights. —Murray Suarez, Kalispell
