LETTER: Green box site hours questioned

| November 6, 2015 11:00 AM

Hours from 8 to 5 for new the Bigfork green box site?

Are not the green boxes paid for through the taxes of working men and women in Flathead County? I am sorry but these hours of opening for the green boxes are ridiculous. Do our commissioners, who are elected by all of us and are paid by all of us, only work from 9 to 4? Do they not realize that many service people and those who work in labor work 12-hour shifts? That medical personal work all hours? That many in our valley now work night and day jobs and they do not realize that the motto “go to bed with the chickens and wake up with the roosters” no longer applies in the transitioning Flathead Valley?

What about our visitors who are looking for a place to drop off garbage as they arrive to our destination?

Cheer on your wonderful accomplishments of how this serves the valley, commissioners. You are forgetting the most important words, SERVE THE PEOPLE. I would suggest that everyone who uses the green box sites and pays taxes should contact their elected officials and ask for a change. —Dottie Maitland, Bigfork
