Car battery thieves taken into custody

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies responded after thieves on Airport Road allegedly were caught on camera driving up to a location and making off with between 50 and 75 car batteries. One of the alleged thieves later returned to the business to collect some money, and was taken into custody.

A man on East Reserve Drive asked not to press charges after he originally reported that his former girlfriend was drunk and tried to run him over with her car. The man said that the woman also punched him, before he recanted the entire story.

An officer took a report from someone on U.S. 2 near Kalispell who said that she had bought a puppy from a breeder online who had advertised the dogs as having been wormed and given shots. The new dog owner said the puppy she purchased for $250 had worms and was so sick that it had to be hand-fed. The officer left a message for the breeder and awaited information from the veterinarian’s office to determine a future course of action.

A woman assured officers that she was taking care of lizards on Batavia Lane. Officers were called by a property owner who said that the owner of the lizards had left the property after his dogs were taken away because one of the dogs had bitten a girl.

A 90-year-old man on Reeds Lane in Columbia Falls asked for help keeping his kids off his property. The man said his wife just died and that the children had showed up and removed some items from his home. The sons allegedly also wrecked the man’s truck a day prior to his call.

A Kalispell teacher said her wallet was stolen, possibly by a student. The teacher was concerned because there was a $2,000 check in the wallet.

All was fine on Blacktail Road after a man reported that he heard shots in the area and was concerned that someone might be hunting from the road. Officers found a man who was searching for a deer that his 13-year-old daughter had killed earlier that day.

A man on Aero Lane in Bigfork said that his door was kicked in the night before. The man had let an employee stay with him and someone was threatening the employee with death threats. The employee’s car was damaged in the incident. Deputies increased patrol.


Columbia Falls Police Department responded to Fourth Avenue West where a woman said she found her door unlocked and a gun missing when she had returned home.

Officers gave a woman on Third Avenue East a ride to jail after she allegedly tried to beat in the door to a bedroom and told her husband that she was going to kill him.


Whitefish Police took a report of tools stolen from a grocery store on Fairway Drive.


An ankle bracelet used for monitoring prisoners was found on Hutton Ranch Road and turned in to Kalispell Police.

A woman on Ponderosa Street said her car had been egged. She wanted the information logged because she was worried other cars may have faced the same fate.

Officers located tote bags stolen from a business on West Idaho Street. The tote bags were located after the business owner reported that a store patron had spotted 100 tote bags on the lawn of one of her tenants.

A man called from East Idaho Street to let law enforcement know that he had tried to hit his girlfriend with a tire iron. The man said that the girlfriend had blocked the blow and grabbed the tire iron. The man left the scene but was eventually found. Officers logged a report on the incident and noted that both parties were wanted for misdemeanor warrants out of Lincoln County.

A coin collection, two $100 bills, a birth certificate, and organic growing equipment was stolen from a home on Fourteenth Street.
