LETTER: Send county commissioners a message

| November 12, 2015 11:00 AM

I just received five notices of “Passage of Resolution of Intention to Create E-911 Special District.“ This is to provide further funding for 911 services, in addition to the funding that shows up on my property tax bills, which I just paid.

The five notices explain that each property will be assessed between $25 and $1,000. There is an opportunity to Agree or Disagree with the assessment, but it states that if the notice is not returned, it will count as “Agree.” This would stack the deck in favor of agreeing with this assessment.

How much longer can the property owner/taxpayer be coerced into paying for every “good idea” conjured up by government? If all citizens use the 911 service, why is it that only property owners should pay for it? Homeowners and businesses are slowly but surly being strangled by ever increasing taxes and it can’t go on forever. Let the county commissioners know how you feel! —William H. Rice, Kalispell
